Get to Know Me

I am a man of multifarious preoccupations. I own a carpentry business in Calgary, Canada where my team and I frame some of the city's most high end luxury homes. I would write an entire blog on my twenty-year career in framing carpentry, but my aforementioned multifariousness has me broadening my scope.

I come from Hutterite heritage and was raised under the merciless eye of Herbert Armstrong's Worldwide Church of God, a doomsday cult that had some 125 000 members in the nineties and late eighties. The abuses of the church led me to vehemently reject Christianity, and the absurdity of its inflexible doctrine incubated in me a deep curiosity about the truths of the world. I became a card-carrying member of the Satanic Temple with a keen eye for the role Christianity and other theistic religions play in so much of the oppression we see.

I am an animal liberationist. I have been arrested and charged for exposing some of the most extreme animal cruelty documented in Canada. My work as an activist has been mostly discouraging, but there have been successes including property seizures, criminal charges, and awareness with some projects reaching >1 million screens.

Penultimately, I am a man who celebrates life. With the Canadian Rockies in my backyard, I spend my winters skiing and my summers hiking off grid with my knockabout husky, Alligator.

Finally, though first and foremost, I am a writer. I created this blog purely out of a desire to share the things I write without being limited by op-ed restrictions, Instagram's character limits, etc. I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them.
